At WINDOWamour, we’re passionate about creating beautiful windows and making it easy for you to achieve the perfect look. Follow these simple steps to dress your windows with beautiful curtains effortlessly.
Before you make any curtain purchases you will want to make some measurements, so grab your tape measure, a pen and paper, and open your phone to the calculator app.
First, measure the distance from the floor to the top of your window trim. Write that down.
Second, add 1.5" and 6.5" to the trim height and write both of those measurements down. These numbers are the lowest and highest heights from the foor that your curtain rod can be at with the LEVELette adjustability.
You will want to purchase a curtain with a length somewhere in between these two numbers.
Heres an EXAMPLE: If the top of your window trim is 90" from the floor, add 1.5" and 6.5" to get 91.5" and 96.5". You will want to get curtains that are between 91.5 and 96.5" long.
*SPECIAL NOTE!!!! Most off the shelf curtains are 84", 96", 108", and 120" long. If these standard curtain lengths are not within your measurements, purchase curtain that is LONGER than your measurements as you can always hem your curtains or let them pool on the floor. You don't want them to be too short. See Step #3 below for a no sew hemming solution.
Now this can be the fun part. There are so many places you can buy curtains. Most of the time curtain shopping comes down to the budget. You can head to a big box store like Target or Walmart and find a pair of curtains for as little as $50. You can also head to a home retailer such as Pottery Barn and get a pair of quality curtains for $350 or so. If you go fully custom made you can spend $800 or more for a pair of curtains all depending on the fabric you choose.

If you want to go on a more custom route, there are many online stores that sell custom curtains as well as local workrooms all over the country. A simple online search of "curtain workrooms near me" will do the trick!
Below are some of our favorite online resources:
If you are not ordering custom curtains to the exact length you need, be sure to buy curtains that are longer than you need. Most off the shelf curtains come in 84", 96" and 108" lengths. For example, if you need an 84" long curtain, be sure to buy a 96" standard curtain. You can always let the curtain pool up on the floor, but if you want it to just skim the floor, you will need to hem the curtain. Now, most of us don't have a sewing machine, but that's ok. All you need is an iron and some doube sided adhesive tape like this highly rated one on Amazon. All you need to do is fold your curtain to the length you need and iron the fold so you have a nice clean edge, then place the tape at the edge and iron it on! So easy!
If you are looking for a curtain rod, check out the ones linked below. Also note that we like a curtain rod with a larger diameter since it looks higher end, and a thicker rod is much stronger and can span across a larger window without having to use a center support.
See below for some of our favorite curtain rods:
Although we don't offer curtain rods (at least for now..wink wink), there are so many resources to purchase them. We designed the finishes of the LEVELette to complement top selling curtain rod colors so you have many options regarding curtain rods.
The three LEVELette finishes are shown below:
