The center bracket CANNOT be used on wood trim that is LESS THAN 3/4" thick. Most trim in most homes is at least 3/4" thick.
BEFORE you install the center bracket, you MUST FIRST INSTALL THE END BRACKETS. Also note that there are HEIGHT ADJUSTMENT LIMITATIONS when using the center bracket. The center bracket is ideal ONLY when your end brackets are are at the highest positions. If your end brackets are at a lower height, you will need to CUT THE POST OF THE CENTER BRACKET in order to place it in a lower position as the wood trim is in the way. Please watch the below install video for clarification.
The LEVELette Center Bracket comes with one base piece, one adjustable hook, two wood screws, one set screw, one screw to secure your curtain rod in place, and one allen wrench. You will need a drill or a screw driver to mount the base piece to your wood trim.
Using the included allen wrench and set screw, assemble the base piece and hook component as shown. Pre-assembling and securing the set screw makes for the easiest install.
Place the bracket on the window trim (3/4" minimum depth is required) with the two mounting holes closer to the wall (they are not centered on the base flanges), and the front edge of the base aligned with the edge of the wood trim as shown (or a bit past the trim edge is ok).
With a pencil, mark the wood trim through the holes you will drill the screws through.
With a 3/32 drill bit, pre-drill the holes for an easier installation and to prevent the wood from splitting.
Then, drill the brackets in place with the included wood screws.
After the rod is placed on the end brackets and the height is adjusted for your curtains, adjust the height of the center bracket so it properly supports the center of the curtain rod. To do so, simply loosen the set screw in the tube with one hand while adjusting the height of the hook component with the other hand, then tighten the set screw in place. You may be required to cut the stem of the hook component in order for it to fit.
